Thai Airways operates 12 flights per day from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. It takes about an hour (60-70 minutes) to travel between Bangkok and Chiang Mai by plane. There are also direct flights between Chiang Mai and Phuket, Chiang Rai - and international flights between Chiang Mai and Singapore, Hong Kong, Myanmar and Laos.

There are four types or rail services that run the Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Bangkok line. They are the Rapid, the Express, The Nakornping Special Express and the Sprinter. Seats and sleepers, fan or A/C are available. First class is also available, with 2 passengers to a sleeper cabin. Duration of journey is approximately 12-15hrs. depending on type of train.

By bus, it takes 9-10 hours to travel from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. You have the option of taking an ordinary bus, an air-conditioned government bus, and air-conditioned private bus, or a special VIP 24 seat air conditioned bus.

Five golf clubs and four driving ranges |
Destination golf courses
 Chiang Mai has a total of five golf clubs, ranging from 9 to 18 hole greens. The green and caddy fees vary from place to place and are cheaper on weekdays than on weekends. There are golf clubs and electric cars for rent. Chiang Mai also has four driving ranges, which charge from between 25-30 baht for a tray of 50-60 balls.
