The largest and most popular of the local handicraft factories are situated along a 13 km stretch of the Chiang Mai - Sankampaeng Road. up a steep mountain trail (1.30 hour) through dense jungle to an

Four types or rail services
There are four types or rail services that run the Bangkok-Chiang Mai-Bangkok line. They are the Rapid, the Express, The Nakornping Special Express and the Sprinter. Seats and sleepers, fan or A/C are available. First class is also available, with 2 passengers to a sleeper cabin. Duration of journey is approximately 12-15hrs. depending on type of train.

By bus, it takes 9-10 hours to travel from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. You have the option of taking an ordinary bus, an air-conditioned government bus, and air-conditioned private bus, or a special VIP 24 seat air conditioned bus.
